5 More Weeks

6 years. That's a long time for any type of venture. It doesn't seem like elementary school took six years. So, it's easy for me to understand why undergrad and grad school (even though it was only 1 year) flew right by! It seems like just yesterday I was at THE Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology pulling my hair out and wrestling with the fight or flight decision.

Now, it's April 2nd. In under 30 days, my week of celebration will begin, possibly turning into a few months of celebration since I don't start my job until July 30th. It doesn't even seem like I should be going into the professional world yet. Today, I went to brunch (a 1pm brunch), listened to music while doing nothing, went to a movie, smoked some mint hookah, got pizza, and watched TV to my heart's content. This is seemingly normal for a day on the weekend, but I only have class on Tuesday and Thursday. My weekend is essentially 5 days long! I don't know if I'm ready to give all of this up, but I
do know that I want to make some money, travel, and restrain myself from going for a doctorate.

It won't be long before I'm shopping on Michigan Ave., going to Cubs games, clubbing in Lincoln Park, going to live shows, and still rooting for the World Champion Indianapolis Colts. Choke on it, Chicago! What I really can't wait for is racking up all my flight and hotel points. I think I'm most excited about alternate travel!

alternate travel
(noun) - the use of firm travel funds to fly to an alternate location rather than an employee's
home location on the weekends, so long as the ticket cost is comparable or the employee pays difference.

I haven't had/taken the opportunity to travel nearly as often as I would have/should have. That's all about to change, especially if I'm blessed enough to go to Ghana a week after graduation. If I had one thing to complain about, I don't even think I would put it down. It just wouldn't be right with all the good that's going on in my life.
